Cape Winelands Private Tours - Taste award winning wines

Different Wine Regions

We visit some of the most beautiful wine valleys in the Southern Hemisphere – the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch & Paarl regions.

These regions are in the countryside – only an hour’s drive from Cape Town. This tour touches on each of the major wine producing regions – exploring local culture and the South African wine making industry.

Cape Winelands Private Tour

Paarl Winelands Tour

Our first destination will be the Paarl region to sample award winning wines – as well as discover the heritage of the local Afrikaans language.

At the foot of a cluster of remarkable granite domes (second largest granite outcrop in the Southern hemisphere) from which it takes its name, Paarl (The Pearl) is an important agricultural and commercial centre, yet it retains an atmosphere of quiet tranquillity.

Paarl is the third oldest town in South Africa. Home to a unique attraction: the only language monument in the world. Dedicated to the world's youngest language, Afrikaans.

This was one of the cape Colony's first farming districts, and it bears the stamp of cape Dutch and French Huguenot settlement well, with many preserved buildings that are worth visiting.

The magnificent countryside, excellent wines and friendly people welcome you to a town where wine making tradition still transcends modern day living.

Franschhoek Winefarms

Our second destination will be the magnificent Franschhoek Valley, nestled between towering mountains, where we will challenge your taste buds to some delicious wine tastings at various boutique estates. There will be an opportunity for a cellar tour and Sabrage display.

Huguenot Monument

In Franschhoek you will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch in South Africa’s gourmet capital and stroll down the Main Street lined with antique shops, galleries and craft markets.

This quaint town lies on the banks of the Berg River against a backdrop of towering Franschhoek and Drakenstein Mountains, a dramatic setting indeed for the town and its resident vineyards. The Gourmet capital of South Africa, Franschhoek celebrates its 17th century French Huguenot origins in a quintessential African way.

The Franschhoek valley is one of South Africas most beautiful locations - a picture-postcard village with a single main street and a major weekend ambience. One village of relentless charm, seven of S.A's leading resturaunts, forty three extraordinary wine cellars, a plethora of galleries and shops, a lifetime of discoveries.

Stellenbosch Wine Tour

After lunch we explore the Stellenbosch region – (Also well known for its university) with some more delicious wine tastings.

This wine tour is unique, as we go off the beaten track – away from the crowds – where you often have to make an appointment for them to share their family wine secrets with you.

Stellenbosch lies near the head of the Eerste River Valley (about 45min from Cape Town) and is one of the most beautiful towns in South Africa. It is also the second oldest town in South Africa. The oak-tree lined town, which is the heart of South Africa's wine industry and produces the grapes for some of the worlds finest wines is also home to South Africa's oldest university.

The town is a place of great beauty and the culture is steeped in South African tradition. History is reflected in many of the neo-Dutch, Georgian and modern Victorian architecture.

Other Cape Wine Tasting Tour options

Constantia Region

The Constantia Valley (Groot Constantia 1692) is the birthplace of the wine industry of South Africa and is still today home to some of the country's finest wines. Only 20 minutes from Cape Town CBD situated in Cape Town's very upmarket southern suburbs. A smaller wine region but still rich with history.

Wine Tasting Durbanville

Only 20km north of Cape Town the Durbanville wine route, like Constantia, is very close to the Mother City but frequently overlooked. Some nine estates lie on the beautiful, rolling Tygerberg Hills, producing a wide variety of wines. The terroir is vastly different from one cellar to the next, the result – a vast range of fruit driven and stylish wines, some of who's history dates back as far as the late 1600's.
